THE HERDS is an act of public art on a scale so vast it will demand the world pays attention.

In the Spring of 2025, cities from West Africa to Norway will be flooded with herds of life-size puppet animals fleeing climate disaster. The Herds will grow and change as this mass migration takes place, with native species added as it moves north.

The leading artists and arts institutions of Africa and Europe will be invited to join and create a gigantic herd that vividly dramatises the climate crisis and demonstrates the power of communities working together and demanding change.

Each community along the 20,000km journey will add their own animals so that The Herds becomes a powerfully arresting experience, awakening us to the urgency of the climate crisis.

"One of the most influential movements of our era"

We will create a mass-participatory story that reacts, develops and changes as it travels.

We believe that what is lacking in the climate debate is not data or a scentific understanding, but a sensory, emotional experience that creates a personal connection.

The Herds will bring an image - overwhelming in grandeur and alarm - of what may happen when eco-systems collapse, especially in the Global South, onto the streets of Western cities where the impact is not yet felt.
