Meet the Team

India Martin

India Martin is a multidisciplinary artist from England working in performance and design. She is a puppeteer, facilitator and clown exploring how we can kindle our relationship with nature through acts of play, gathering and public art. India is a graduate of École Philippe Gaulier, The Curious School of Puppetry, Soho Theatre’s Drag and Cabaret Lab, and a Junior Associate of the National Youth Theatre.

Her credits include: IMAGINING ANIMALS (Significant Object and CLOD Ensemble at The Tower of London); THE HERDS (The Walk Productions); Quartet in Autumn, Recall. Digest. Embrace.(Arcola Theatre); Yuletide (Wild Rumpus); Ghost Woods: FOXY (WildCard); Natalie Palamides: WEER, Stamptown (Soho Theatre and Soho Theatre Walthamstow); NEST (Leeds Playhouse, Leeds2023 and National Youth Theatre), JOHN TOTHILL: This Must Be Heaven (Edinburgh Fringe for Country Mile Productions).

She takes immense pride in belonging to the international team behind THE HERDS, and the work she does with them continues to influence her work. It is vital, more than ever, that we question the attitudes that have shaped our relationship to the natural world for so long and imagine what else is possible. The animals of THE HERDS, moving us with their strength, beauty and fragility, are powerful reminders to consider how we are all part of something bigger than ourselves.
