To me, THE HERDS is where art becomes a vessel for truth—a way to move people toward awareness and action. The climate crisis doesn’t affect everyone equally; communities of color, particularly working-class Black and brown families, are often hit first and hardest. Historically, discriminatory practices like redlining and disinvestment have pushed these communities into areas more vulnerable to flooding, extreme heat, and air pollution—leaving them with fewer options and greater risk. What worries me most is how often these stories go unseen. THE HERDS offers an opportunity to center those lived experiences, to build empathy, and to remind us that healing the planet means fighting for justice in every form.
