From April to August 2025 from Kinshasa in the Congo Basin to Nordkapp in the Arctic Circle, life-sized puppet animals took over the streets in one of the most ambitious public art projects ever attempted.

Growing, changing, evolving as they moved, THE HERDS came uninvited to our doorsteps and marched through our streets. They were an alarm bell, impossible to ignore, waking us up from our indifference.

Tens of thousands of people watched live - and millions more online - as the animals of THE HERDS conveyed the ferocity and beauty of nature - proud, elegant, frightened and graceful.
